A good Acne Moisturizer with SPF is a must!

Yes, it's true. Even oily prone skin needs acne moisturizer. Think because you have already oily skin, you don't need more moisture added to your skin? Wrong! In order for your unhealthy blemished skin to heal and become healthy, your skin requires hydration with SPF.

I use to think the same way, but it's just not true. Dermatologist after Dermatologist would tell me the same thing. "You must protect your skin with a good moisturizer to aid in the healing. Yes, even oily prone skin".

A good noncomedogenic moisturizer for acne skin will not worsen your acne, but by not using an acne moisturizer, you are doing your skin a huge dis-service.

During your treatment, you are using acne medication that contains ingredients that acne moisturizer applied outdoors.jpgcause your skin to become dehydrated. Your skin is experiencing constant cell turn-over and it requires moisture. Also, with the added fact that your skin is starving for nutrients--that's where a good moisturizer comes in to play, to replenish.

And dare I mention SPF protection? You need to make absolutely sure your acne moisturizer contains SPF protection! Everyone, not just people treating acne...needs to protect their skin daily, with a good moisturizer that contains SPF of 15 or higher.

It's sad but true, nearly 1 million Americans get skin cancer per year and that number is on the rise! More and more cases of skin cancer are being diagnosed these days. It's NO JOKE, PROTECT your skin. ALWAYS!

Back to the importance of moisturizers...

A good acne moisturizer is not one of the causes of acne. You will be fine with a moisturizer that is noncomedogenic (will not clog pores). This type of moisturizer will still allow your skin to breath, while it heals. Applying a good moisturizer to your skin will give you a healthy glow (not greasy) and allow your make-up to go on smoother.

Again, when looking for that perfect moisturizer to aid in your skin's recovery...first look for SPF of 15 or higher. Then make sure it's noncomedogenic (won't clog pores).

A few moisturizers I recommend? Well, I've tried and love:

Murad Acne Moisturizer---Energizing Pomergranate Moisturizer SPF 15

It controls shine and protects your skin from the elements. It’s lightweight and oil-free. It really does deliver a silky smooth feel. Your make-up goes on flawlessly.

Proactiv Solution---Oil Free Moisture with SPF 15

This is when I got it right. This was my first moisturizer I used for my oily prone skin. It goes on smooth and is lightweight and not greasy, giving my make-up a natural look and feel.
