AcneToner...to use or not to use...
Many people wonder if acne toner is a necessary part of their acne routine. I say, it depends on a few different factors.
First, let's start with a toner's primary purpose. A toner is used to first balance out your PH levels on your skin, after cleansing.
Acne toner then allows your acne moisturizer,
over the counter acne treatment
or prescription treatment to work more effectively. Your toner also clears your pores and hydrates your skin...leaving you with a refreshed feeling.
A person, who wears make-up or has excessively oily skin, would benefit the most from a toner. Skin toner helps lift away these residues and leaves your skin refreshed! I find it AMAZING to see what my cotton ball (soaked in toner) lifts out of my pores...after cleansing!!! Personally, I benefit from an alcohol-free toner.
•
Proactiv Solution has their Revitalizing Toner,
which is alcohol-free, removes excess sebum (oil), hydrates
and contains Glycolic Acid
and Witch Hazel. • Next, Murad has their Clarifying Toner which is alcohol-free and contains menthol, a cooling antiseptic. It also includes vitamins C and E. • Ideal for someone with sensitive skin,
Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner
is gently, yet effective and delivers results.
• Then we have
Nivea Visage Moisturizing Toner
. This too is alcohol-free. It's a light formula that picks up residue left behind by your
make-up
and
cleanser
. Your skin toner should be: • Alcohol-free • Refresh and tighten pores
As always, PROTECT your skin with
moisturizer
that contains sunblock! Tip: After
cleansing,
apply toner to a cotton ball. Gently glide your cotton ball across your face in a circular motion, barley touching your skin. Do not rub, doing so may irritate your skin. Wait at least 10 minutes, then apply your over the counter acne medication or prescription acne medicine.
