Got Papules...red, coned shaped, inflamed lesions? Let's tackle them together
Papules are small and usually coned shaped, inflamed lesions. Unlike pustules, they contain no pus and no head. They are considered a moderate type of acne. These lesions occur when there is a high break in the follicle wall. That's when white blood cells try to fix the problem and your pores become inflamed. Usually this type of acne is very tiny, almost invisible to see. My experience with these lesions, they have a rather rough feel to them. You don't normally develope just one, these guys usually show up in clusters. Don't feel overwhelmed, getting control of this type of acne is not as difficult as the more serious
types of acne
. This is another type of acne that responds well to products which contain
benzoyl peroxide.
In addition to using benzoyl peroxide, when it comes to papules, I’ve had great experience with
Murad’s Acne Spot Treatment!
This is a wonderful product that
contains 3.0% Sulfur.
The trick to Murad’s Spot Treatment is to use it consistently, throughout the day. It literally shrinks those blemishes right up. Remember, a good
acne cleanser
should: • Contain a good bacteria fighting agent • Gently exfoliate
A good
acne toner
should: • Refresh and tighten pores • Be alcohol free
A good
over the counter acne treatment
or prescription acne medicine should: • Help control and prevent future breakouts
A good
acne moisturizer
(even for oily skin) should: • Hydrate • Be hypoallergenic • Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) If you are not able to get control of your breakouts, your battle with
papules may require oral ance medication
such as Accutane or Tetracycline, to aid in your treatment. For this, you'll need to visit your dermatologist.
