Pregnant now and still breaking out

by lee
(south africa )

Hi, I'm 25 years old and I'm 5 months pregnant. Everybody keeps telling me to enjoy my pregnancy, but how do I when I have acne and every person keeps asking me about it?

I hate going to work, because of it and I'm so not confident.
My husband keeps reassuring me that it will be better later on, but it just doesn't help. I am currently using Proactive which did help me a few years ago when I also had acne, but now I dont know.

I can't really take any medication, because of me being pregnant. I do understand that my hormones are all over the place right now, because of me being pregnant, but is there anything else that I can do or do I just have to grin and bear it until my pregnancy is over?

Pregnant and dealing with acne
by: Loretta-Site Owner

Thank you, Lee for sharing your story on pregnancy and acne.

I'm glad to hear you realize there is a connection with your hormones/pregnancy and your acne. I'm also glad to hear you have such a wonderful, compassionate, supportive husband. By the way, he is right…your experience with acne during pregnancy will get better once your hormones balance out. In the mean time, I would strongly suggest you speak with your Doctor regarding your concerns with acne. They should be the first to point you in the right direction for your acne care, during this stage of your pregnancy.

Lee, you had mentioned that tried Proactiv in the past? Perhaps you could try a different product with a different main ingredient such as Murad. I too started out with Proactiv, but use Murad now.

Proactiv contains Benzoyl Peroxide, while Murad contains Salicylic Acid. Both are excellent ingredients, but your skin may react better with a different ingredient.

I would also STRONGLY SUGGEST you take a look at my Clear Skin Diet page at http://www.clear-information-on-acne.com/clear-skin-diet.html, look over some of the "foods" that have significantly helped me with my acne battles. This way you can naturally tackle your acne inside and out.

Again, please check with your doctor first, ESPECIALLY since you are pregnant.

Thanks for sharing with us Lee and please keep us posted!
